pioneer
I purchased a pioneer based on Clearviews claims regarding the greenest stove available etc the best materials etc however absolute rubbish as all these claims where found to be misleading by... [ read more ]
Stove expert replied: Claims by stove manufacturer's always need to be checked. Nearly every make publishes the outputs and efficiency, and any reputable retailer should be able to say what material the stove is made from. It is true that some makes stand on their reputation and so we must be aware that manufacturers vary in how well they keep up with the rapidly changing technology within the stove industry. The efficiency level of Clearview stoves is lower than some other makes but generally their customers seem happy with their stoves.

Help!!!! Please!!!!
Our room is 6.5m x 4 x 2.4 and is a 1999 stone build house. The calcs for heat output requirements come out at 4.5 or thereabouts. So which model do we go for??? I have to say that I like the... [ read more ]
Stove expert replied: As you need 4.5kW's for the one room the Vision 500 should be fine to cope with this and will give extra for the other areas that you ideally would like to take the chill off of. 8kW's if the gross heat that you can expect so it will not be producing this when on a lower setting.

15 years and still like new
I burn Supertherm or Burnwell nuts on it , and also seasoned hardwood , If you make sure the ropes and seals are all in good order and the chimney to the stove is sealed correctly you can control... [ read more ]
Stove expert replied: It is not recommended to undertake making boilers for stoves, they require certain tapping fittings and will need to be a certain size for the stove concerned hence best to get through the manufacturer. Once a boiler is fitted the heat generated to the room will be reduced so it is important that a stove is correctly sized to cope with both room heat and heat to water.

OVER RATED
Sorry I put one of these stoves in my living room . I have had to stop using it as the smoke is pouring out of everywhere ! I had to take the battery out of the smoke detector in the hallway... [ read more ]
Stove expert replied: Please get the installation checked as smoke should not come back into the room, it implies that the flue draw is not adequate. This can be overcome and certainly needs further investigation. Please put the batteries back in the smoke detector and make sure you have a carbon monoxide alarm, these are for your safety and should not be compromised by removal of batteries as they are warning you of a problem.

Vison 500 with Backboiler
We bought this product with a back boiler so that we could heat our water for the kitchen area. We run it 24/7 winter and summer but for it to be really effective you need to use 'ovals' which... [ read more ]
Stove expert replied: Discoloration on glass - smokey apprearance usually from over-firing or crazing that spreads over the glass due to under-firing of stove. How far away is the tank from the stove and what size is the tank as on this model the output to water is 10,000BTU's?
