    After a great deal of research, I chose the Vermont Resolute Acclaim stove in enamelled black to be the centrepiece of our home. It sits in the downstairs lobby and warms the lobby, staircase
    , landing and all six bedrooms that lead off the landing. This stove is, with careful setting, capable of heating a large home on a cold winter's night, yet a single load of wood will last overnight on a slow burn.The air wash works really well and keeps the glass clean and the stove is easy to control, with the flame and heat levels responding readily to adjustments to the damper lever. Our fitters paid close attention to ensuring that the chimney was suitably 'tuned' so the stove always burns controllably - we live on top of a hill and the wind can be very strong.The build quality is excellent and everyone who visits comments on how beautiful this stove is. If I need another stove, it will be a Vermont.

    Have had this for 12 years now and have found it to be a very frugal user of wood when set correctly. once it has been lit for a while close the air to get small dancing flames not a roaring
    fire and it will be at its hottest and most efficient.

    I bought my Resolute 2490 from a guy who was moving. It had only been used one winter. I have an Intrepid which we moved to the bedroom, so I have 7 to 9 years of stove burn experience. I love
    the2490 with one exception. It has one burn setting.....high. You can move the damper lever left, right with no effect. I have been told that a warped casting could be wedged not allowing the damper plate to close.....expertise, please!

    Stove expert replied: It may not be to do with the stove but could be a flue draw issue, I would suggest getting this tested as this can have additions made to it to enable more control (a flue damper or stabilizer). If the damper on the stove is not working fitting either of these should have the same effect.
