I purchased this 8kw stove on 2nd August to heat a room size 700 long x 330 wide x 250 high and was told that it will be more than adequate, 5kw is recommended. Installed on 17th October by
a HETAS installer. My first experience was lack of heat in room, not covecting, decided to leave doors open and made a big difference, but could smell fumes. The back of the fire box was getting very hot and heating up the outside chimney wall. The Installer came back on 12th November and decided to insulate the back, sides and top of fire box, also fit a larger flue pipe into the chimney. The chimney has a strong pull and is of brick construction. This did not make any difference to convected heat, although the fire box was getting very hot and has now cracked the granite surround in 3 places. I decided to leave the doors open again and this heats the room up a treat, but again smelling fumes. This problem has now been referred back to Stovax by the supplier and the installer, I wait for their response!

Stove expert replied: Having to have the installer back to insulate round the appliance is worrying as this should have been undertaken when the installation was first made!

After spending all year looking at stoves we were recommended a Stockton 8 inset stove by our excellent installer. Our house is 10 years old quite large and the ground floor is mainly open plan
. We were advised that to heat the whole area we would need 12kw but on talking to our installer decided that would over heat the main room. We had our stove fitted on the 11th September and so far non of the comments we read on your reviews have come true. The stove is easy to light and sends out so much heat that we have to open the doors to vent some upstairs! We have only had a few cold nights so far but roll on the really cold weather so we can test it. Also we didnt like the look of the canopy so have the flat top stove and after reading lots of comments and studying the instructions are using very dry wood. We have not yet attempted to burn our stove over night so will need to see how that works out.

Considering the price of this stove I would expect better. The airwash need to be near full to prevent blackning, does not work on the far right hand side and burns too fast with it on full
. Major design flaw - using the canopy, the convected heat, instead of going into the room is sucked back into the stove via the airwash negating the point of the convection system. Probably OK with a flat top. Customer service from Stovax - Useless. Took 2 months to reply and claim that there "was no problem" other nigling design flaws - spills ash on the harth when the doors are opened.
