  • Get the G2B, or bite the bullet and get a clearview 400

The ECB5FPLUS SC Is the discontinued DEFRA MODEL. Do not recommend this. Only has top air flow. Lack of air seems to stifle fire making it difficult to light and sustain. Airwash doesn't reach
to bottom of glass on the larger pane that the Plus has (rather than the standard ecoburn5 which also has 6 top vents incidentally) and it leaves a brown tar band across bottom of pane after only one burn of kiln dried ash. If you must get the 5plus , suggest the new G2B DEFRA model. I wish I'd gone for the clearview 400 now

Stove expert replied: If the flue draw is low this will affect the performance of the stove and checking the amount of free air in the room to allow for combustion is recommended. Normally the Defra models perform well as the air restriction allows air to pass through the stove continuously enabling the glass to stay clear. Further investigation regarding the installation is recommended.

Superb little stove that throws out the heat well. Very easy to light and control though note that, unlike most stoves, this little chap only has the one control. Air wash works pretty well
too. Firebox isn't huge so be careful what fuel you chose. So far I have been using Hotties briquettes, and they seem to suit the stove really well. The styling has clean lines without being too blatantly "modern". And it easily warms a good sized sitting room. I couldn't be more delighted with my choice.

  • Wee smasher

OK so this is our first stove so not much experience, however been very impressed. Managed to smash the glass with a log that was too big but replaced myself and if anything the replacement
glass is even better. For a medium lounge with central heating 5KW is fine. I now use welder gloves to avoid the burns to my forearms (top tip) great heat, looks fab, good British quality that installer was impressed with. On very still nights the air flow isn't great but in the west coast of Scotland you don't get many of them
