Review of Woodwarm Fireview 6KW Flat top stove

A stove that works!

FD 11 years ago

Have had a Fireview 6kw now in my house for one year, a very drafty uninsulated timber house. Stove is located in the sitting room that also opens up to a conservatory. No central heating in the house.

Strenghts:

The easy handling: I don't think any of the stoves I have used elsewhere, including various famous brands and very cheap no name ones, were that easy to light and to regulate. No fiddling about, no secret little tricks required. The two air regulators work very easily and the result is instant. This means a nice heat output can easily be achieved, which is important if the stove is the main heating source and not just an occasional point of interest installation.

The Airwash: Clear glass all the time. It got blackened when I had the stove turned very low overnight, so the timber was more smouldering than burning, but the glass burned all clean again once a proper fire was going again and some more heat developping.

The large firebox: It was (apart from the general recommendation by the installer) one of the reasons I went for this one. In comparison to many others this allows decent sized logs/wooden bits in.

Cleaning the stove is very easy, large ashpan, no fiddly riddling grate.

The view to the fire is great, not many stoves of this size have such a nice big glass front.

Weakness: None really.

No real weaknesses at all, but handle tool takes a little getting used to. But this really isn't a weakness.

The larger firebox means it needs a good filling up to stay on overnight, but works with some firebriquettes (which I quite like due to their low ash content and ease of use and little storage space required) and I am sure with smokeless fuel as well (haven't tried). If then turned very low to allow for very slow burning the glass will get black. Not really a weakness here either...

I am 100% convinced of this stove and would buy it again. Not the cheapest on the market, but if it lasts and keeps going as in this first year then it's worth every penny.

The very clear line look fits well into a more traditional house but equally also in a modern one. Just beautifully simple and unsurpassed in functionality.
