Review of Woodwarm Fireview 4.5 stove
I have had this stove installed now for 3 days and I'm bowled over by it's performance. The airwash is amazing. Crystal clear glass even though the stove has been shutdown overnight, I haven't had to clean it yet. Stayed in no trouble, nice to get up to a warm narrowboat. I have burnt smokeless coal and logs. I refuelled the stove with a single layer of smokeless coal and put on two smallish logs and got 4 hours burntime out of them on tickover and amazing heat output. The controls just work so well, and so exceptionally controllable. I like the ashpan door locking handle being adjustable by turning it to get a tighter seal as the door rope seals/ wears. The door glass is double glazed and the riddling grate works very well, two settings one for wood and vertical/ open for coal. I can't fault it and it was worth the extra money. I have had villager stoves before so compared the woodwarm wins hands down on everything. I have the rear heatshield and it does really keep the wall behind cool. They also do a 3 sided heatshield. The build quality and detail speaks quality. I ordered the optional backboiler to run 2 small rads onboard and hot water but really the boat is plenty warm enough. It's nice to feel warm again! I will infuture always buy woodwarm! James.
Stove expert replied: Burning coal produces sulphuric acid and wood can contain a lot of moisture - this combination can coat your chimney in sulphuric acid solution which can quickly eat away at anything so mixing is not recommended. Plus the conditions for burning wood efficiently are not the same as those for burning coal efficiently. Best to use one type of fuel at a time.
