Review of Westfire 23 stove
Westfire Uniq 23
A design classic (pure cube sitting on four small cylinders - it doesn't get more classical than that) that actually works, as well as looking good. Rated at 6.1 KW, it chucks out twice as much heat as our old Spencer Sherwood Magnum, rated at 11 KW. (But that's 25-year-old technology for you.) The ashpan is too small, and emptying it is slightly messy - you pull ash out onto the hearth, so need to clean up daily. But that's no bad thing! Also the firebrick along the back cracked after 6 firings (though it doesn't affect performance at all, and a free replacement is on its way - I hope!). Fantastic pre-sales support from Rebecca at Stovesonline. This is important, because the manual supplied is woefully inadequate. But it is a joy to own and a joy to use.
