Review of Tiger stove
Toasty warm....just a bit noisy!
Have owned a Tiger for many years but only recently had it 'properly' installed (lined, reg plate etc) It achieves a very good draw and gets to a very good temperature. It is easy to light and on the whole operates well. The burns were always very fierce and the control plate on the door never completely shut the fire down (I assume that's because it also draws air in through the door). I am leaving a bed of ash which helps control it a bit better.
The only issue I have is the noise it makes. The whistle/whining is coming from where the air gap is in the top of glass in the door. I have taken the glass assembly off and it appears that nothing is out of place or broken. I'd considered running some rope around the rim of the glass at the top but I assume then the air wash system would be compromised. Does anyone else suffer with the noise or have any suggestions about what could be done?Stove expert replied: As the burning rate has always been fierce it may be that the flue has a strong draw and the air is being sicked through the air gap and creating the noise. A flue damper or stabilizer will help to get control of the stove and may solve this problem. If the stove is not able to be shut down to a slumber mode then this is indicative of an over-drawing flue, further investigation required.
