Review of Stratford EB 20 HE

Unbelievable Design Fault

Ian Bell 3 months ago

After lighting this stove for the second time with seasoned wood a calamity occurred. Unknown to myself this boiler stove will have a lot of condensation occur due to the cold sides of the boiler and must be heated quickly. Now that''s my fault but when you discover this liquid does not go into the ash pan but straight onto your hard earned new hearth a complete disaster. Arada stoves are so pompous they say this is normal and won''t accept one ounce of blame

To the designer

Hi I spoke today to a technical expert to vent my frustration that my new 20he boiler model had deposited black condensated liquid out of the bottom of the stove onto my brand new500£ hearth after a period of being burning at a low heat. Now I hold my hands up and say yes my fault user error pipe stat set to low new stove etc.

I have owned stoves for 40 years and in all that time any moisture from inside the firebox always made its way into the Ash pan.... But not in arada s case. This loyal technician expertly explained that this stove needs all this air coming in from beneath to make it work hence all these seams and holes in the base, well I thought that was what the air vent which I connected to my outside wall was for?

Anyway I think it''s a complete bollocks that a designer couldn''t have welded a flange around the firebox to direct any condensated gunk into the Ash pan and still have all these so called air holes its not rocket science. Yes there should be no condensation but I''m sorry accident s happen that''s why we have seat belts in cars and a roof on your house. l can''t comprehend that when Arada knows full well that a boiler stove can condensate before it''s up to working temperature that it incorporated a school boy error like this and then trys to blame operator error for their poor design.

Also in long periods of non use and after torrential heavy rain water can come down the chimney and where does it end up yes on the hearth then on the carpet.

I am completely gutted that I''ve spent days researching stoves and I wanted to support British manufacturing not Chinese and I''ve purchased a great stove with such a disastrous defect that could have been completely avoided with a bit of common sense.

Avoid this stove like covid
