STOVAX 7

JOHN MEADOWS 14 years ago

i could not advise anyone to buy this stove i have had nothing but problems since it was installed 2 years ago. i cannot stop the glass from going brown even with the airwash on full, it dosen't matter what fuel i use i have to clean the glass every morning before lighting the fire. recently the glass cracked for no apparent reason when i got intouch with stovax they never even replied to me. yes the stove gives out good heat and heats the whole house but i wish i had bought something better

Stove expert replied: blackening glass is a classic sign of wet fuel or insufficient or too strong chimney draw. If the firebox gets properly hot in a stove then most deposits will tend to burn off the glass. In instances where the glass goes black very quickly I suggest that you look to the fuel, then the chimney and connection to the chimney to try to solve the problem.
