Review of Stovax Stockton 7 Inset Convector stove
Stovax Stockton 7 Inset
I have been heating my living room burning logs and coal in an open fire for over 10 years. I decided for the sake of fuel efficiency it was time to invest in a multi-fuel burning stove. I carried out all the usual research on the internet, looked at different styles, makes and models in various showrooms. My choice was ultimately restricted to an inset stove because of the limited size of the chimney breast and the reluctance of my wife to let me set about it with a sledge hammer!. The Stovax Stockton 7 inset was the one we finally ordered. I took advice from the installation engineer with regards to removal of the old fire-brick and site requirements and carried out all this work myself. The stove was delivered (well packed) on Tues 17th July, engineer fitted chimney liner and installed the stove on Wed 18th July and we have not looked back. It looks great, well made, great finish and does what it says on the box - heats our living room very well and very controllable, I can't wait for winter to let it rip!. I haven't been able to get it to burn all night yet and the glass gets blackened when it is choked down for slow burn but this is easily removed (when cold) with a bit of white vinegar on a cloth - dip it in the fine ash to remove the worst deposits. To conclude I am delighted with this stove.
Stove expert replied: Great review, insert stoves are a great way to heat a room with minimal disruption if space for a free-standing model is not possible and so much more efficient than an open fire.
