Review of Stovax Stockton 5 stove

Okay but

Had stove 18 months. The metal at the back of the stove bent quite quickly after we first got it. Fully accept that I may have over fired the stove. I am told that the whole stove has to come out to get access to the clean burn chamber to replace that specific bit of metal (£44 for part). Can't believe the whole stove has to come out to get access to replace a part. If true then I will probably leave it for now and consider buying another stove from another manafacturer.

Stove expert replied: As the stove has been over fired the part that now needs replacing would not normally require replacing hence the unusual request of the stove having to be removed to undertake the work. The parts that normally require replacement, due to fair wear and tear, are usually easily accessible. What a shame.

This is a common problem with the back baffle and I have had to replace this part twice on our stove - our sweep says this is a known design fault and new back baffles have an extra piece of protective metal to prevent this in the future. However, as long as there is enough clearance and you can get a spanner round the back then its certainly something you can do in situ and yourself.
