Review of Stovax Stockton 5 stove
Still Going Strong
Reviewed in early 2010, installed late 2009, time for an update, used frequently in the winter as ours is a cold house. Firstly, overnight burning, shouldn't be any good as it has the approved kit, but it will go through with smokeless, and everything shut down as much as poss, no problem. In any event, lighting is easy, newspaper, kindling, dry wood, bit of coal and you're off. Burning is controllable, stove ticks a bit when changing temperature, might be a weld, but other than that it is ok, and has always had a bit of intake noise. 3 years in and so far no parts needed, slight crazing to glass, bricks inside are ok, did move about a bit but levelled stove and sorted the problem. I have had to re glue original rope last year, glass blackens when getting cool, but cleans easy. One little issue of a hinge pin creeping out when opening door but this has resolved itself. For a 5kw stove big enough to take a decent sized log this is a good choice, but there is a size limit with a stove of this output, I tend to burn coal/wood 70/30. Would say this is a reasonably priced stove and works just fine.
