Review of Stovax Stockton 5 stove
Disappointing
My installer recommended the Stockton 5 woodburning stove or charnwood country 4 for the space I had to heat up the open plan living/dining area. I chose the Stockton 5 for its design. Neither myself or the installer could get much beyond a small flame with kiln dried logs but as soon as the log guard is removed it gets going. The log guard is a solid metal plate with three small rectangular holes at the top. It seems to block the air coming in at the front so only works when removed which is fine execept for hot logs falling onto the hearth when you open the door. My friend has the Charnwood country 4 and I was amazed at the heat output by comparison to the Stockton 5. Stovax say they can't understand the problem and I am left feeling very disappointed, given the cost of installation. Has anyone come across this problem before with the log guard? I understand they changed the design in 2012 so this is the newer version.
