Review of Stovax Stockton 11 hb boiler stove

Inside coating

Paul Wallace 10 years ago

Had a yeoman boiler stove before this it had to be changed as doors were faulty and nearly impossible to fuel. This is the replacement and a lot better but there is a thick black coating on the 3 sides plus the top of the stove like melted rubber and can't get it off , there is a crust inside ,this coating has been there from day 1 so not a fuel issue, same wood as last stove an it didn't have the problem also use smokeless coal, the baffle plate and grate are spotless so can't work it out ,the riddling socket has just also fallen off ! ,the dealer I bought it off of has been very helpfull and have referred it to stovax but nothing yet 2 months approx , think I will just pull it out and cut my losses

Stove expert replied: Make sure that you do periods of fast burn at least twice a day to reduce any tar residues that build up during slumbering periods, normally easier to do when hot water has been drawn off. At least 15mins twice a day should help to reduce the build up.
