Review of Stovax Riva 40 multi fuel

Nice fire but you cannot keep it going overnight!

Bought this fire 6 years ago. From personal experience its not suitable to keep burning all night as it clogs up and goes out. I have previously contacted Stovax and advised that you cannot burn this over night as the ash gets stuck and no air goes into fire. I had hoped that the fire would get a modification to resolve this as in my opinion its too expensive to renew with another fire. Window stays clean and its great if you only burn wood. When using coal the first loads burns successfully but when you try adding either little amounts or otherwise it soon goes out. Therefore its not possible to use coal only. In future will change this for a freestanding stove that is easier to clean out. It should not be marketed for an all night stove.

Stove expert replied: It would be worth trying other smokeless fuels as the ash production does vary with different makes, you may find one that will stay in!!

Hi I have the Riva Free standing model and last winter kept it going 24/7 for at least 5 months! apart from the day of the mid winter sweep.. It needs to be shut almost right down last thing at night with a couple of dry seasoned logs and then open everything up the next morning to burn off the dirty glass.
