Review of Stovax Riva 40 multi fuel

Stovax Riva 40 Inset

This is our first winter running our Stovax Riva 40 inset, we are using it to provide addition heating / focal point to our large lounge.

The contempary design suited our needs and the removable handle provides a picture frame finish and a cool handle when re-fuelling.

Like any stove it has its own characteristic’s for lighting we have found that leaving the primary vent open at 50% and the secondary air wash at 100% for the lighting period, door slightly ajar till the fire taken then closing down the primary when and controlling with the air wash when well established. Lighting conditions can change with external weather condition but you start to get the hang of after a few times. The air wash system is superb ! I have only had to clean the glass a few times and I think this was due to closing the door too early during lighting. A good burn for 10 mins with the air wash open 100% will get rid any minor deposits.

Well-seasoned wood on a bed of 2cm ashes is the key and belts out heat if fully loaded with a mixture of soft and hard woods.

I totally agree with a previous comment although supplied as multi-fuel but looking at the design of the fire box/griddle it is primary designed for wood burning.

If I was to find a fault with the stove it would be the cost of spare parts but so far have not required any.

I have not tried an overnight burn so have given a neutral score
