Review of Scan Andersen 4-5 stove

Just coming to the end of our first winter with this fairly large and good looking stove. It heats our large living room (6mx6m) with ease and after a couple of hours we have to start opening doors and stop fuelling it 2 or 3 hours before we turn in for the night. We don't try to keep it going over night so can't comment on this. It lights very easily and seems to tolerate less than fully seasoned logs, the fire box is big and will take logs up to 50 cm. Controlability is a bit of an issue as it really only works well when it's going at a good rate. The air wash is a disapointment though. Even when burning kiln dried logs the glass picks up a fair bit of muck which won't burn off and if you try to throttle back the rate of burn the window very quickly picks up soot. All in all a very efficient and good looking stove for large room applications, let down a bit by the poor air wash.
