Review of Saey Fenix 60 stove

This is a wonderful stove and we are very happy with it. When it has been burning for a little while it's possible to achieve a very stable, slow-burning fire which - combined with the clear, airwashed window - gives a very attractive and effective source of heat, as well as a visual focus.

We were advised that the stove is available without the electric-operated fan but I would strongly recommend opting for the fan-assisted version. The fan makes it easy to light the stove and get it up to temperature, after which you can switch it off.

The second fan setting is interesting. It is thermostatically controlled and when we first installed the stove I thought it wasn't working as it remained off at low temperatures. Now I believe that this fan kicks in when the temperature difference between the inner and outer enclosures is HIGHER than a set value. When operational it delivers a very significant flow of warm air to the room from the top slot.

In fact, one of the other things we love about this stove is that it delivers warm air as well as the normal radiant heat.

I have only one criticism: the air control is extremely sensitive and it can be difficult finding the position you want. The difference in the rate of burning between the open and closed positions is very significant and yet the travel on the control is only about 2 cm. and has to be done mainly by touch (it is positioned on the top of the door and is not readily visible).

I would recommend the stove to anyone - but suggest you take good advise on flue design, ventilation, provision of some sort of incombustible hearth (not included with the stove).
