Review of Riva 66 Multi-fuel Fire
Stovax Riva 66
We have a Riva 66 and the wall immediately above the stove gets very hot and the plaster is continually cracking. As fast as we repair it further cracks appear. It is very worrying. A gas engineer has informed us that all log burners should be fitted with a top grade Class 1 chimney liner because of the output of heat. We don't know if ours is fitted with the best quality liner we are awaiting a visit from the installer. Having looked at your installation instructions you do not specify this. How can we solve this cracking plaster problem please.
Stove expert replied: A liner or small length of rigid flue off the stove should help as this is where the main heat will be, check with installer. Heatproof plaster can be purchased which may also help to prevent an annoying problem.

We have had 2 lots of heat proof plasterboard removed because of cracking plus we have had 2 buckled baffles (lower and upper)all because the fire is overheating due to vermiculite being on top of the cassette cabinet also we cannot regulate the heat output by using the regulators. You will not find out if you have vermiculite on top of your cassette unless you remove the plasterboard. If our chimney went on fire we would not be able to shut it down.Contact your Stovax dealer and see what they tell you.
