Love Our Stove!

Rowan Smith 6 months ago

Installed 5yrs ago as part of an extension build I was able to install this stove with a direct air feed from outside and a vertical chimney (2 story high).

I bought the stove 2nd hand and replaced all the vermiculite, using the old pieces as templates and cutting from a sheet of the stuff with a normal saw!! Big savings!! Building inspector sign-offs secured and good to go.

Regarding use, it has been a dream! One firefighter, bit of kindling, more wood on top and it has never failed to give cracking heat in minutes! I have to admit chucking all sorts of wood in it (you have a lot of bits after a demolition and rebuild) and it has coped with everything.

Give the hinges, handle some tlc / clean / lubrication each year and have had no problems.

Stove is probably around 10 years old now and the grate has developed a crack - I guess it''s old age - but it hasn''t expanded.

I normally run the stove at c.280 degrees on the chimney thermometer with periodic high heat runs to burn off any residues.

It burns cleanly, the chimney hasn''t picked up any deposits and the stove has been everything we hoped it would be. Reading other reviews, I do wonder if chimney/draught is the key to getting the best from this stove. I also think the direct external air supply is a massive plus. No worry about air bricks, particulates in room, impacts of kitchen fans etc. I would totally recommend whenever practicable.

Would buy again in a heartbeat!
