Review of Morso s10-40

Oh No!

Stephen Brown 9 years ago

Bought this stove over a year ago and was very plesaed with the performane looks etc. However after 6 months (during the summer so little use) the back fire brick split and a 1 inch gap was left between the two pieces.Although this did not seem to affect performance it was unsightly. However worse was to come!

The door handle was always very stiff to operate the door and took some force to open and close. After oiling it it became far smoother but that only lasted a week. However on opening the door with the stiff handle a crack appeared in the glass just left of the handle and this quickly grew so the glass split in half and I had to remove the loose part as this was dangerous. The quote for a replacement glass was - £700! that's half the price of the stove! I understand that it is curved fire rated glass but £700! Of course its not covered by Morso guarantee and will possibly have to make a claim on my house insurance but what if it happens again?

Could be a design fault?

Think carefully about spares when purchasing any stove.

Good luck
