Review of Morso Badger stove

Cracking stove

AT 13 years ago

Bought ours to replace an open fire in an 80s built house. It is sooo much better than the open fire. Really like the simple look of this stove over the fussy traditional ones. The removable handle is nice as it looks better without and stops the kids playing with it. The airwash works very well, with the glass only sometimes getting dirty when you cut the air supply right down, though opening the vent up again will normally clear it. We always clean our glass after each burn with just a bit of wet kitchen paper dipped in ash. Cleans up the glass a treat. Have seen other cheap stoves where you can barely see into the firebox due to irty glass.

The instructions are pretty poor giving limited explanation of the use of the riddling grate to control air flow. Our door doesn't shut tightly so if you have a roaring fire it can rattle. The sweep was surprised at this for a Morso.

We only burn wood in ours and have never tried to burn overnight. We also have an ecofan sat on top which works well. Lighting it is easy. We use the top down approach with 3 or 4 big bits on the bottom then a stack of kindling on that, then the newspaper on top. Usually lights and gets going with no intervention.
