Review of Lovenholm stove

how to keep it going?

Roger Humbles 12 years ago

Delighted with look and build quality of our 2 week old 5kw single door model.

We are however having trouble keeping it going once the kindling has burnt out.

we use about 8 sheets of newspaper and 12 pieces of kindling, burns a treat, looks like it's drawing really well, put small pieces of dry hardwood on after 10 mins, all looks well for another 20 mins, then it gradually dies. We start with the door open a crack and both front vents wide open. What am I doing wrong? !

It will get going after repeating the process a couple of times, and stay lit even with primary closed and secondary open, but it is wearing me out! I'm sure it must be my technique as no other comments mention this problem.

Stove expert replied: Try leaving the door open for longer on ititial start up, it sounds as if the flue draw is sluggish until the flue has been warmed thoroughly. Is the flue lined?
