Review of Little Thurlow stove
Little Thurlow 5 years on.
Had this fitted by a local company around 5 years ago now.£900 installed including baffle plate and flue liner. Heats a living room approx 20 feet by 10 feet by 8 feet high in a small cottage. Lights easily, heats up quickly and easily controllable.
Replaced an open fire which puffed smoke out. Eliminated that problem and also the road noise which was an un thought of bonus. Bought two bags of coal when I got the stove but have most of that left as I always burn wood.It burns very efficiently. I have it on and switch the gas heating off. Easily controlled if you have well seasoned wood. Plan ahead I have around 3 years worth. It will pay off. Ours sits on a raised hearth proud of the fireplace and I think this maximises the heat. Will stay in overnight if required but we do not do this. Takes 15" logs.Glass stays clean if controlled properly if not glass cleans easily. The only downside has been replacing the costly firebricks. So far once and probably due again. I would recommend it to friends. Although I have just bought a second hand Dowling stove for an extension I have planned.
