Review of Little Thurlow stove

Just one problem.........any suggestions?

A great stove that is very controllable and economical on the number of logs used which is all I burn. My brother in law has a Dunsley Yorkshire stove and he is forever refueling his firebox.....but the glass on his stove does not blacken over like the little thurlow does and we burn the same source of dry seasoned wood logs. I can keep the glass part clean on the thurlow by burning with the bottom air vents slightly open or the bottom vents closed and the top vents mainly open once the log has burnt through a while..... but this burns through the logs too quickly and throws out excessive heat! The rear air wash flap position makes no difference to the front glass coating over just the colour of the smoke changes slightly lighter out of the flue when open as it has an after burner effect. The fire will stay alight over night no problem by closing down all the air vents except the top two which you can leave open a crack after loading up with a few logs before bed......but......you wake up to find the glass black in the morning and once it is black it wont burn off again and then needs a clean. Your choices.....burn slow and control your heat and clean the glass nearly every day and hardly see the flames or burn fast and get too hot and keep a clean glass front......unless someone has any other ideas to try I am resigned to all the benefits and drawbacks of this very good stove! Any suggestions? I also use the spray chemical to clean the front glass which works very well as I am not keen on using wet newspaper and ash from the grate in case it causes minute scratches on the glass front which makes future cleaning more difficult....am I wrong here?

Stove expert replied: Wood ash is wonderful for cleaning glass and is much cheaper than buying cleaners. Do not use ash if any smokeless fuel is used as this is what causes scratches to the glass surface.
