Review of Jotul F3 stove
Not good for burning coal
I'm submitting this review based on use of an F3 MF on a long weekend in a cottage in Suffolk. There was plenty of Taybrite supplied at the cottage, so that's what we used. In comparison to the Morso Squirrel I have at home, I found that the stove took a long time to warm up and give off any heat, but I suppose this is to be expected given its size.
I was also unable to control the stove in any meaningful way, this was because there was no gasket on the ashpan door, meaning air was always getting in there. The small size of the ashpan relative to the stove size, and the lack of external riddling mechanism leads me to conclude that this is not well suited to burning coal, and should probably be only bought by people who will be only burning wood.Stove expert replied: If the stove was maintained and the gasket was in place I am sure that there would be more control. Difficult to judge on a weekends use!! Is it a fair review?
