Review of Jotul F 100

Jotul F100 SE (plain door) with MF Kit

This stove is beautifully made but EXTREMELY heavy (almost 100kg!). Definitely a 2 person lifting job. This is of course due to the cast iron construction, which is great as it means there are some lovely details around the stove. We opted for the plain door as we love to see as much of the fire as possible. It would have been even better had the door been allowed to swing further open - providing the option to use it as an open fire if you so wished. The Jotul lights easily - far easier than our old stove, amazingly so in fact. We have a 6" liner in place running through a 6m 9" brick constructed chimney (just in-case this info is useful as well). When both vents are open the fire truly roars away, within a few minutes we can close the lighting vent and within a minute or so more we can operate the secondary vent to our liking - this all works very well and gives us great confidence and control over the fire and temperature. I would recommend this stove whole-heartedly. We live in a 2200 square foot bungalow and with doors open it heats through very well - obviously not to the point of never needing any additional help on very cold days, but certainly stops us from needing the central heating very much at all. Hope this helps.
