Review of Jotul F 100

A Great Log Burner

James Burns 10 years ago

I have just installed a Jotul F100 in my house and had it fired up every night.

The cast iron construction makes it solid and robust. Its heavy as hell, but because its cast iron they have been able to give it some ornate beauty with the decorative design on its sides and front.

The stove is very easy to light. We've had absolutely no smoke backing up issues. It lights first time every time. The top air vent controls the rate of combustion very effectively. Surprising how quickly it dampens the fire down if you close the vent.

The heat output from it is fantastic and I was surprised how much it projected it's heat forward. The area of floor under the burner and to the rear/sides is only a fraction of the heat that its thrown forward through the glass pane. Which has allowed me to stack the next few logs under and to the sides to make sure they are completely dry for burning.

I would defintely recommend one of these for anyone who is looking for a mordern looking but with traditional features on a log burner.

I should also mention that we are first time log burners so it seems to be great for the newbies amongst you.

Stove expert replied: Wood should not be stacked too close tpo a stove and ideally 450mm from it.
