Review of Hwam Ravel stove

Not great, for the money

Simon Collinson 3 months ago

The most irritating thing is the lack of anything to keen the logs away from the glass which results in the ask falling out every time you open the door. We try to keep the logs toward the back which reduces the problem but it still drops ash.

The next issue is also ash related, and its that the ash collection try isn’t a shovel at the back and, if you allow it to over fill, it all falls down behind the tray as you remove it. This then has to be retrieved using shovels etc – a poor design and just needs the back of the tray to be removed.

Overall its ok – not that easy to light and invariably you need to have the ash drawer slightly open in order to get it to draw, which you’re not supposed to do. If the wind is in the wrong direction, this isn’t possible and it blows smoke into the room through the drawer. You will struggle to light it without firelighters/drawer being open.

Once going, it looks good and gives a good heat.

When you buy a top end stove you don’t expect these issues.
