Review of Hunter Herald 14 stove

Coal Burn Rate

Barbara Jenson 11 years ago

I moved into a house with the Herald 14 CE V.II already installed. I have had multi-burner stoves previously but this one seems to burn much more coal than the others. I put coal on, the front vents (top and bottom) are closed and I have to replace the coal at least every 45 minutes. This makes it very costly to run.

Stove expert replied: It may be worth exploring a damper or stabilizer for the flue as if when the vents are fully closed the stove is still working hard may mean that you have a draw on the flue that is too strong for the stove. The heated air will be sicked out of the stove quickly using more fuel and not allowing good heat production into the room. I would suggest speaking to a flue expert for further assistance.
