I have had the Hunter Herald 14 for several years and believe its a great bit of kit and take every opportunity to show it off.

But through sheer and utter frustration I am prompted to write this review.

Since buying I have followed all instructions for this stove and only used recommended fuels, But this has still not stopped me from changing a full set of fire bars approximately every year.

Please let me know if these bars should last longer than a year if so what should the average lifetime be. Disappointingly these are the only thing letting this stove down,

Stove expert replied: Always leave a bed of ash to protect the grate bars (do not over riddle the stove) and empty the ashpan at least every day. Try alternative fuels as some burn hotter than others.
