Review of Hunter Herald 14 stove

I moved into a 3 bedroom house with the hunter stove fitted. There are 6 radiators but even with a blaze going for several hours the radiators were not hot. I have had to turn 3 radiators off to get the others reasonably hot but they are never red hot. It takes about 2 hours from lighting to get the radiators warm. Water is heated ok. The burner does not burn all night and goes out by morning. I am losing the will to live with it really. I have been told I need a chimney liner but am reluctant to spend if it will make no difference. I would love to be warm in winter but at present the hunter is not fit for purpose. I would love to have suggestions on what I should do.

Stove expert replied: What fuel are you using and have you tried any others? A liner will improve the performance if the current flue is large and the gases are cooling quickly. It may be worth getting the installation checked to insure that this has been undertaken correctly. The boiler may not be big enough for the system that you are trying to feed and this depends on the size of radiators, pipe lengths how much water you are using to name just a few things that have a bearing on boiler size etc.
