Review of Hunter Herald 14 stove
Hunter Herald 14
We have had the Herald 14 for approx 6 years and everything that could go wrong has gone wrong. The grids have been replaced every winter as they have snapped, the glass cracked, bricks crumbled and we have had to replace the interior frequently, big smoke problem and finally the back of the stove has warpped and fire was coming out through the back flue. We have used smokeless fuel and dried locks as directed and have tried everything. Now no heating. Will never purchase this model again.
Stove expert replied: A sorry tale. Grates do not normally need replacing every year, you say they have snapped, did they distort before snapping? Glass can crake at any time and liners are classed as consumeable items and so I would expect them to be replaced periodically. The smoking problem may not be to do with the stove but more to do with the flue, was this investigated? Warping of the stove body is concerning as the stove must have got to en extremely high temperature to allow for this type of movement. Not sure what you mean by dry locks!
