Review of Franco Belge Belfort stove
Had it for 10 years, burnt through two flue liners
The stove was already installed when we bought the house, about two years before we moved in. The stove is in the back snug and the room can get quite cold so we keep the stove going 24/7 for months at a time. We burn Home fire ovals which keeps going overnight. Heat output is great, have to empty ash every day, which is fine. Had to replace the liner 5 years ago, now the replacement has burnt/rusted through... The house was built in 1890 and has a sound chimney, so not sure if we need a flue liner? Cost £1,500 for the last liner and fitting... Could we just get the liner taken out, do a smoke test and if OK run it without a flue liner?
Stove expert replied: A liner is recommended for a property of this age. 316 grade liners come with a 10yr warranty and are best suited to woodburning stoves and the 904 grade liners has a 20 year warranty and is best suited for the multifuel burning stoves. I would go back to see what you had fitted as you may be able to claim under warranty depending on what was supplied.
