Cracked glass
The stove was in place when we moved in. Generally it has worked well but we still have to clean the glass fairly often with an easily available spray on cleaner.
Our chief gripe is that over the last 18 months we have had to replace the glass 3 times because it cracked. At £50+ a time this is not fun. I have a flue thermometer showing that the temperature averages 180 deg C & never more than 250 deg. We make sure the wood doesn't touch the glass. When I fit the new glass I make sure the the screws are tightened just enough to hold the glass in place so any stresses are equally applied. Has anyone advice on how to avoid cracking like this?Stove expert replied: Main advice is to make sure the gasket is in place and do not over tighten the fixings. You seem to have been very unlucky.
