In reply to Scott, I think what Adrian is recommending is to remove the whole thing: grate assembly and ash pan. The logs can then burn directly on the bottom of the stove. Not sure how well this would work but I do know that you can buy a wood burning kit for this stove, that's probably the safest option.

I am having the same problem as Adrian is having in regards to ash falling out every time I open the door. Not quite following the tips given for this though, can anyone explain where to put the fire rope to help with this?
