Review of Firefox 5 stove
superb
Firefox installed on friday morning, into my c1882 small brick cold draughty cottage, no other heating in the house bar an oil filled radiator.....OMG firefox is superb, okay the 1st few small fires were a bit smelly (reminded me of copydex glue-bit fishy)ive managed to light the fire 1st time everytime, remember to fully open bottom air control, and to be patient while kindling catches before whacking on a seasoned log or heat log. fire kept in overnight for 12hours no problem, even after 18 hours the remaining coals were warm to touch and the stove was also warm as was my little house.-have found the glass has gone a bit brown :( even with airwash open, was blamimng myself/logs but i think from reading reviews its just the way it is- i use a bit of newspaper to clean the glass off, no hardship for the price ive paid for an excellent stove, highly recomended, heat output is brilliant, am very pleased with my multi fuel 5, oh and baked a camembert cheese, wrapped in greaseproof paper, in a foil dish on top of my stove..yummy \n\n
Stove expert replied: I'm glad you are so pleased with your stove. When you first light a stove the paint completes the final curing and you will get a funny chemical type smell. For the first few firings ventilate the room. This will soon pass once the paint cures and the paint is then also more hardy. To clean glass a little ash on a damp cloth is ideal. Do it when the stove is cold though!
