Review of Firefox 5 stove

Extreme smoke problem

Robert 12 years ago

Hi,

I bought this stove second hand, it looked great and the guy assured me it was perfect in every respect. However, when I got it back home, fitted the flue pipe onto the back exit and had the flue pipe entering a good clear chimney, lit the fire with dry wood, the entire top plate of the stove - beneath the lip where the sides and front of the stove meet the top - is pouring out a lot of smoke around the edges.

Any advice on this problem would be greatly appreciated...

Stove expert replied: What size chimney does the flue pipe go into? Do you have a 90 degree T with flue pipe going straight up from it or hav you a horizontal pipe out the back going more than 6" (150mm) before it turns up? A flue when cold can cause smoke to stay in a stove but would recommend getting more advice on the flue system as a whole.

The above has just happened to my Firefox 5 fire. For no reason smoke is coming from the underside of the top of the fire. We have just had the Lin cleaned by a pro also. The fire has been in place for 3+ years and we have had no problem at all until now
