Review of Firefox 5 stove

Looks great but I'm struggling to get heat from it

Lee 13 years ago

I just had this stove installed and it looks great. However, I having real trouble getting any significant heat from it. I'm a total newbie to stoves so it may well be that I just haven't managed to master the art yet however, I have managed to get a good fire burning with wood, was able to close the primary vent down and it keep burning well but I'm just not getting any heat from it (unless you stand right next to it) I have been using firelighters and kindling to get the fire going and then adding some bigger logs. I have kept the secondary vent open as if I close them both the the fire goes out - the glass is very black now. I've trying it with coal but I can't seem to get them really fired up....any suggestions would be appreciated!

Stove expert replied: Check the installation complies with manufacturers instructions as this seems strange. This should give a good heat with wood or smokeless fuel providing all the required clearances, flue connections etc have been adhered to.
