Review of Firefox 12 stove

Firefox 12, internal warping

Richard Jones 9 years ago

We had this as a wedding present in 2010 and its was the best gift we received. We hardly use our central heating.

The only issues I have are, if its loaded up (wood and coal) and the dampers are closed down, within 2 hours there is very little fuel left and needs topping up. This may be normal but I have friends who claim their burner when loaded and shut down will stay hot for hours, all night in some cases, this may be "pub" talk though!!

After four years the baffle plate and the frame that holds it have both warped. I have a temperature gauge and keep an eye that it doesn't get too hot. Is this normal?

Also most of the bricks are cracked.

In conclusion, I love this fire, its provided a nice heat and looks great. I have a free (if you don't include, fetching, chopping and storing) supply of wood, so it has helped massively reduce our bills and gives the room a focal point.
