Review of Firebelly FB2 double sided stove
Disaster!
We bought a new house and one of two wood burners was the FB2 DS. The other is a Charnwood and it’s fine. The Firebelly, however, is a disaster. We can get it to 200 degrees when we light it - lots of kindling, flamers and small logs, as well as all vents open. However, 30 minutes later, and when you close the bottom vent and try and add a log, it drops down and we struggle to get to 150 degrees and the house stinks of smoke. The glass is black within minutes which we know means we are not getting a second burn, but it’s impossible to get the fire up to heat afterwards. Even opening all the vents produce flame but doesn’t get temperature up beyond 150 degrees. We’re using a mix of kiln dried oak and 2 year seasoned ash which has been indoors for a few days. The weather outside is cold but there is no wind. We have a vent under the fire bringing in cold air. Nightmare ….
