Review of Firebelly FB2 double sided stove
Firebelly double sided stove - fantastic stove and easily heats two large rooms
I bought this stove to heat two large rooms - living and kitchen/diner. We live in rural Scotland so it get's pretty cold in the winter months. We had a fair amount of building work done to knock through the existing chimney to accommodate the stove however, it has been well worth it. The stove has on it's own raised the temperature from 16 degrees to over 25 degrees in both rooms. And this just working at the middle of the temperature range. The stove lights easily and burns well. The bottom controls are only for starting it then you just use the two top controls. The top controls need to be adjusted in small increments after the fire has got going and we now just use one of the top controls to create the right amount of draft. We only use well seasoned logs which I make sure I bring into the house a couple of days before I used them. The big glass doors allow you to see the flame well which is great. It is important to use plenty of kindling and watch that the fire doesn't burn the logs too quickly so adjusting the top controls does this well. It is a fairly big stove so it can go through a fair few logs in an evening. We are delighted with the stove and the heat it kicks out. Sometimes on windy days it appears to burn quicker - probably the draft in the flue. Overall 5 stars!
Stove expert replied: On the windy days take more care with the air controls as they may need to be adjusted to allow less than normal amounts of air into the stove so that it does not overdraw. A flue damper may be a good option to prevent over-drawing long term. Otherwise a great review.
