Review of Esse W35 range cooker
Disappointing
I bought a house with the Esse stove in it. The stove was 6 years old and hardly ever used, because the house was not inhabited.
I don''t know what causes it, I have had two chimney sweeper here and several heating installers, I have had a temperature bypass installed, but the oven performs very poorly. If I reload the oven too late, when the fire is not at its hottest, the amount of smoke that comes out of it is appalling, and frankly speaking, dangerous to my health. I have to open the windows wide open all day (in winter) to get the stinking smell out of the house. The only thing I can bake on the hot plate is a fried egg, everything else takes way too long. If I switch the flue damper to "oven heating", where the smoke is supposed to run through the oven, the smoke comes out of the front door and from beneath the top plate. My last suspicion is that the chimney may be too wide, but even when that is the case, an oven should not behave like this. Service from the retailer in Germany is bad. They failed to supply a cleaning set after I ordered it, and they failed to come by and help me out, or even make an offer to do so. This machine is a disaster and I will replace it, probably with a Wamsler made in Germany.
