Review of Esse 100 stove

Disapointing

Wendy 9 years ago

Initially we were pleased with the stove although it always seems to burn quite fiercely. We live in a smokeless zone so bought this as it is DEFRA approved. It burns too high and therefore we use more fuel, so in effect it is not as environmentally friendly as expected.

We have only had one winter out of it and have had to replace the baffle plate and the back fire bricks. We only burn wood and have followed instructions to the letter.

Also, a potential hazard is that there is no basket to stop anything falling out.

on the plus side - the big window is lovely!

Stove expert replied: You may have an over-drawing flue as it appears to have little control and having to replace internal components so soon indicate something is not quite right. A smoke exempt stove will have a bleed of air passing through it at all times but you should notice some change in the control of the stove when the air controls are operated. It might pay to have a flue draw test undertaken to prevent further failures / damage.
