Review of Esse 100 stove

Esse 100SE

Am really pleased with my Esse100se stove. It lights with 6 small sticks and a few scraps of paper no problem. It takes about 5 minutes until it is ready to be closed down. The glass stays clear and any tar seems to burn off when the stove gets hot. The view of the flames is great. Wanted a big stove due to a large inglenook fireplace with a good view of the flames but not a high heat output. The house is well insulated and I would rather run the stove than keep it smouldering and smoking. Our room is 7m by 4m and is now very cosy - much warmer than expected so heating the rest of the house as well. The cleanburn essentially prevents overnight burning but because its easy to light this isn't really a problem.

What could be improved. The sliders and door handle are a little stiff - but fully functional.

The adjusters for levelling the stove are silver and don't match the feet. I might paint them black.

I would like to be able to turn it down a little but keeping the amount of fuel low does keep the output low.

Overall am really chuffed with it.

Stove expert replied: Smoke Exempt models can not be closed right down as this would mean that the emissions will not comply so overnight burning is normally not possible.
