Review of Efel Elgar C23
A good solid all rounder
I have the Efel Elgar C23 now branded as Nestor Martin. I purchased this stove 6 years ago and thought i would add my 2p worth regarding this stove, which is currently still in use as of 2022. In addition to the stove i had to source the remote control option, which was bought for around £170. A worthwhile upgrade made even more premium for this multifuel stove and easier to use. The major advantage i would say is the build quality of this stove consisting of cast iron inners instead of the usual vermiculite bricks. The reason i''m glad i purchased one like this is i don''t have a gentle touch when loading a fire meaning i didn''t have to worry about damaging a vermiculite bricked stove when chucking in the odd bit of wood or shovelling coal in. This stove has a detachable handle for using with both main door and ash pan door hidden behind the bottom section of stove. The ash pan is of decent size and would say when using the tool for riddling, it''s not the most stable and can easily slip when moving backwards and forward. When starting this fire i use a layer of paper and kindling wood with oval coals on top. I would say this stove has a good efficient burn but not the cleanest in terms of removing all black soot from glass on lower setting. It will eventually disappear when higher setting is used but takes time. The major advantage of this stove is the overnight burn. I can add a small bucket of coal consisting of about 20 ovals or less and this will last 10+ hours before needing refilled. I burn any wood i can get my hands on but will always use a bed of coal and this has worked for me since purchase. Overall a 4/5 rating from me :)
