Review of Dovre 2000 stove
Nice looks, shame about the performance
We have had our Dovre 2000 for 13 years now. We bought it for it''s looks and because it supposedly could be used as an open fire. I say supposedly, because despite all the pictures in brochures showing lovely open door pictures of a roaring fire, it states in the small print of the specifications ''never let the doors open when the fire is burning''. So if you want the look of an open fire, it us not suitable due to escaping smoke. The performance is very poor. It consumes huge amounts of wood, is very slow to heat up, and never gets anywhere near as hot as a ''proper'' woodburning stove. The glass goes black very quickly and becomes harder and harder to keep clean, the airwash does not work well at all. I have had woodburners for 37 years, so I feel reasonably well informed. Most issues with stoves are not the stove, issues are usually a poor performing flue / chimney, or use of unseasoned wood. Occasionally incorrect use by the owner. But with the Dovre 2000 it is very much a case of looks over performance. It is finally being replaced next week.
