Review of Dean Forge Hembury 5 kW

Disappointingly Noisy

Jim FINDLAY 5 years ago

This refers to our Hembury 5 SE stove, not the wider W5 variant which may have different sound characteristics. It looks nice, lights very easily, and the air wash is fairly effective and the glass is generally easy to clean.

Our bug bear is the intrusive clanginging, pinging, tinging noise the stove makes continually, not just when heating up but when its running at constant heat when you''d think any expansion/contraction noises would have stopped.

I can fit in commercial pre-cut kiln dried logs into the firebox which I couldn't always with our two previous Coalbrookdale/Aga Little Wenlock excellent stoves, which were frustratingly sometimes too small for some bought logs.

Door handle gets too hot to use without gloves, and there is no riddle.

Stove expert replied: Have you been back to your supplier regarding the noise, there may be something that the manufacturer can do? I can only imagine that this can be very annoying and is unusual, I have heard of this before in other stoves and it was to do with a weld that was not complete.
