Review of Contura 51L stove
Superb stove.
I purchased this Contura 51L back in March 2021.and what a fantastic stove it is.A few firefighters with twigs/sticks on top.two small split dry logs on top of the sticks.light it with the lever over to 3 for maximum air intake and the door slightly open.The fire roars for 10 minutes and you can then shut the door.It will take 15 inch logs.but 12 inch are better.I have a tree surgery business so I only ever put good burning timber like Ash.Oak.Beech below 20% moisture in the stove.Once the fire has been going 20 minutes I put more wood on.another 10 minutes and move the lever to 2.Very controllable stove.lots of heat.The only way I found to keep it in overnight was to cut 3 rings from a tree approximately 3 inches thick and put them on top of the split logs.set the lever between position 1 and 2 at 11pm.At 7am the room was warm.the fire had a bed of embers and it was just case putting a few twigs in and dry wood.lever to 3.and it was away again.It is easy to clean out every 3 days.as I leave a bed of ash in the fire.I had it installed using the rear outlet and it works fantastic.It draws brilliant.The glass will go sooty if you put it on position 1 for long periods.but stays clean between position 2 and 3.I would highly recommend this stove.
